I'm still so tired 4 weeks post TT with plication and mesh hernia repair, is this normal? (Photos)

A tummy tuck recovery takes several weeks. There is a lot of healing your body is doing "behind the scenes". Try to keep up with good nutrition and resting as your body dictates. With a little more time you will slowly begin to feel better and return to your normal energy level.

I find that many  patients (and their plastic surgeons) underestimate the actual recovery time associated with extensive operations such as tummy tuck surgery. The operation is associated with a very significant physical, and often "emotional", recovery period.
I ask my tummy tuck patients to refrain from any heavy-lifting or strenuous exercise for 6-8 weeks to prevent any complications and ensure proper healing.  Even at 2 months post op patients will report that they have not reached full strength/stamina. It may be 4-6 months before patients reach full strength.   
Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes an accurate assessment of your condition, advice, and/or meaningful reassurance. My best suggestion: start slow,  gradually ease back into activities, and listen to her body as you do so.   Best wishes.  

you had a few post op problems which will slow you down. there are a multitude of reasons why you may still be very tired 4 weeks after surgery. most of my patients have bounced back by then. however, everyone is different. are you sleeping enough and getting a good quality sleep? are you resting enough? are you active enough? if you rest too much and don't get outside to walk and get fresh air etc, you will bounce back much slower!!!i am a huge fan of vitamins and when you are healing, you need more, so it would be a good idea to be taking a multivitamin, Vit D (many people are already deficient in this vitamin), Mg, Vit C, are you eating healthy? you should be eating extra vegetables and maybe taking in a bit of extra protein. avoid the soft drinks and processed food. be patient. I believe you will really turn the corner in the next 2  weeks.david berman md
