Silhouette lift\Dissolvable Sutures; will I feel that there is something in my face, and for how long?

The cones and threads that make up the Silhouette Instalift usually dissolve over a 6 month time frame.  During this time they stimulate you body to produce collagen in order to assist in shaping and contouring your face.  Initially, you may feel the cones, if you press very deeply into your face.  As the product is totally absorbable there should not be any long lasting effects. The enhancing effect of the Silhouette Instalift lasts up to 2 years and may be repeated before or after this time period. 

Thank you for your question.  The Silhouette Lift consists of small entry points made in your skin by a needle.  There is no scalpel used.  No incision scars.  This is all good news if someday you might need or want a formal facelift/necklift.  You can also receive another Silhouette Lift a couple years after the first if you are still not ready/not a candidate for a facelift  The material is the same that we use with Sculptra injectable.  Often Sculptra patients will come back every few years for a touch up.  Volume can also work well with other modalities, (Juvederm, Volluma, etc.).  The choice between modalities depends on how much these issues bother you, how aggressive you want to be, and your anatomy.   Again, one should do a proper history and physical exam to see if you are a candidate.  Best to see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or Otolaryngologist, (ENT).  They will be able to let you know what might work best in your case, (Silhouette Lift vs. Fillers vs. Surgery), as they do all of the above.  Please call with any questions.Jeffrey J. Thank you for your question.  The vast majority of any bumps or tethering of the tissues resolve within weeks of the procedure certainly will not be present long-term (e.g. 10-15 years).  I would visit with an experienced Instalift surgeon who can guide you through your different facial rejuvenation options.  

Immediately after the Silhouette Instalift, most patients do feel the sutures.  The sutures feel tight, pulled, with painful twinges if the face pulls on the sutures from too much movement.  This lasts a few days although an occasional sharp pinch can be felt up to several weeks.  This goes away as the sutures heal.  There is usually some swelling but minor bruising.  In general, the sutures are not seen but, early in the healing, they can be felt if you run your fingers over them.  This goes away with time as the sutures break down, swelling occurs, and the collagen forms.  In the majority of my patients, the sutures are no longer able to be felt by about 3-4 weeks if they are easily palpable right after the procedure.  This is more of an issue when a patient has a thin face or thin skin.  Long terms results of the Silhouette Instalift procedure are still coming in, as it is a relatively new procedure.  I would say that it is unlikely to have long term ropiness or banding from this procedure.
