Hi. I’m 23 years old, and I live in South Africa. I have found myself seeing some changes in my face and neck in the last couple of months and I’m not sure what to do. I have been told I have slight jowls and I don’t know if it’s a double chin or not. Anyway, my face used to look more “lifted”/“tight” and my chin/neck went more “in” I think. I’m not sure what’s going on or what to do. I have had some NYA.. something skin tightening but I don’t feel it has helped. I would like to show you

Answer: Chin liposuction Dear Plshelp1801, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Wanting to look like a 12-year-old The aging process continues constantly and your face is going to change from year to year in that direction. Take a look at what people in their 30s look like and you’ll see that they look very different than those who are in their 20s. With each year comes and evolving change of facial aging. A lot of this has to do with lots of elasticity of the face. Some is purely related to aging of tissues. On the face the majority probably comes from sun exposure. I suggest wearing sunscreen on a daily basis, use a hat or avoid spending long periods of time in the sun. There’s nothing wrong with your chin. You don’t have a jowls. You look like a normal healthy attractive 23 year old. Don’t compare yourself to how you looked when you were younger because youth isn’t coming back. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
