Often facial fat transfer can be reversed with syringe liposuction of excess fat. In certain areas, as in around the eye, the excessive fat deposit may have to be removed by a direct surgical approach. If the area where the excess fat has recovered with adequate softness, the liposuction can be performed with local anesthesia. Occasionally, a moderate amount of steroid can be used to reduce the thickening. Waiting a minimal of 3 to 6 months would be necessary before attempting removal. Christian Drehsen, MD
