Would a low body fat percentage be a problem for Breast Augmentation surgery or recovery? (photo)

Question

1.73m, 61 kg, very small frame. competitive bikini fitness athlete. My body fat is currently 16% . When I do a lean out faze for muscle separation, body fat drops to 13% and on prep for comp,11%. I am to start a lean out phase now for 6 weeks but am hesitant to do so in case it would be detrimental to surgery or recovery. seeing my PS on 2nd Sept with surgery possibly end Sept. Should I stay at my current body fat % or would a lower percentage not be an issue?

While having a low body fat percentage won't prevent you from having surgery, just make sure that you are getting enough nutrients and protein in your diet so that you can recover more easily following your surgery. Best of luck.

Low body fat is not a contradiction to have breast augmentation surgery. Based on your photos alone you have a small frame I would recommend a silicone implant as it will be a little bit more softer and ripple less.

The paradox with breast augmentation is that the small-breasted patients who might seem that they "need" or want larger breasts are not the ideal candidates for large breast implants. The less natural breast tissue you have, the less you can hide the implant and the more unnatural they can look (i.e. roundness, rippling, asymmetry, etc). Also, long-term effects, which you should be aware of because of your young age, includes atrophy of the surrounding soft tissues and rib cage and increased stretching of the soft tissue over time. Your low body fat percentage should not be an issue.  The key point is to pick an implant shape and size that matches your body type.  I have many fitness competitor patients for whom we perform breast augmentation.  They are able to achieve sensual and fantastic results yet still maintain their successful fitness competition.  A detailed consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon will help you create the perfect surgical plan.

It is quite difficult to starve yourself so much that it interferes with would healing.Nonetheless, I would schedule your surgery during a time that you are not maximally depleted of fat stores.All the best.
