Could bacterial pink eye be from fillers? (photos)

Question

I have tear trough fillers (Juvederm/Restylane) and I recently came down with bacterial conjunctivitis. I’m using eye drops and the dr also prescribed me keflex. The lower lid and tear trough area is very swollen on one eye. Could this be biofilm from the pink eye or is that not possible. Thanks in advance for your answers

I appreciate your concern. The pink eye is not likely due to your filler and biofilm infection will likely cause redness and swelling in the eyelid itself and not in the conjunctiva. However, I suggest you notify your injector and have a follow up examination soon.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

Fillers do not directly cause a pink eye, but if the filler injection was close to the eye, the area surrounding the injection site can get infected if aseptic techniques were not instituted during the filler treatment
