Can I get a natural slope with round implants? I don't want roundness on top.

I am considering teardrop implants, but know that many doctors think round implants feel more natural. I also don't like the risk of rotation. I don't want roundness on top, though, which I why I liked the anatomical shape.

Thank you for your question.  Yes, you can get a very natural result without roundness on top from a round implant. Roundness on top has more to do with the size and profile of the implant than the shape. The risk of rotation is a bigger problem with anatomical implants, because if they do rotate, they no longer look natural.

Thank you for your question.  It is absolutely possible to get a natural shape with round implants.  An appropriately sized implant under the muscle can give a very natural and beautiful shape.  Best advice is to talk to your surgeon in person about the various options.

I think you can achieve a very natural look with a round implant.  Size is an important factor here.  I would suggest choosing a moderate plus implant with a size that looks natural on your frame.  Also, I would recommend a submuscular augmentation for the most natural looking result.  Make sure you consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to evaluate all of your options.  Best of luck!

Thank you for the question. The natural look can be achieved by choosing the most appropriate implant for your body size and shape. To avoid the too round look I choose either a moderat profile round implant or an anatomical shaped implant for a smoother slope. Anatomical implants rarely rotate when placed correctly in the ideal patient. The texturing of the implants keeps the implants in place if the pocket is made to fit the implant. I would recommend you see a board certified plastic surgeon who is confident and has extensive experience in placing anatomical implants so you have the option to pick the right implants to meet your goals. Thank you for an excellent question.  It is possible to get a natural slope using a round silicone implant.  When in the body, the round implants take on a very natural shape if you are upright, as the silicone migrates to the lower pole of the implant.  Two factors help with this:1. The profile of the implant - The higher profile implants give a more rounded appearance of the breast, which can take away from the natural slope.  I would suggest a moderate or moderate plus profile to avoid the implanted look.2. The position of the implant - The submuscular placement of the implant gives a more natural slope of the breast.  Placement of the implant above the muscle can create a superior shelf and a less natural slope.If you select a reasonable size implant with a moderate profile, you should be able to have a natural shaped and sloped breast using a round implant.Best of luck with your breasts.Jeff Rockmore

You certainly can get a very natural appearance with round implants. Anatomic implants are great when they are genuinely indicated but unless you have very small or tuberous breasts then studies indicate the results are essentially the same and patients and plastic surgeons alike cannot tell whether a patient has had round or anatomic implants when shown a series of postop photos. Anatomic implants cost more and run the risk of rotating and looking very unnatural so unless you have one of the indications above, save yourself the money and potential hassle and get a pair of round implants. You absolutely can achieve a natural slope with round implants.  You do need to find a surgeon with extensive experience in breast augmentation so they can give you all the subtlety that you are looking for. Teardrop implants will be a mistake.

Round implants that are of appropriate size can look quite natural. Placing the implants in the submuscular or dual plane position will also help prevent the unnatural rounded upper pole appearance that you are trying to avoid. Anatomic or tear shape implants are not necessary to achieve a natural result. With that said, round implants do not necessarily feel more natural than anatomic implants. And the risk of implant rotation with shaped implants is very very low. I think that you just need some more detailed information about the different implant types. A thorough discussion with your surgeon will clear up your concerns.

Thank you for your question. There are many factors that influence the shape of your breast and the 'take off' slope after breast augmentation. The implant type can influence this shape but other factors may be more influential including the quality of your skin, the thickness of the overlying subcutaneous tissues, the breast gland, the placement of the implant in a subcutaneous or sub muscular pocket and the size of the implant. In regards to implant size and type, there are many variables in recommending 
implant size/type. I base my implant recommendation on patients' body 
(chest height, chest width, existing breast tissue) as well as their 
desired look.  Review before and after photos and see what kind of look 
that you want. Please share your desired look with your plastic surgeon
