Help, please! 9 days post rhinoplasty my dog hit me under the tip and now the cartilage is broken. Any advice? (Photos)

Good evening! I'm trying to stay sane and positive, so a little advice is really appreciated. 9 days after my revision rhinoplasty my dog hit me with his head. I waited for a few days the swelling to resolve and now I can clearly see and feel that my cartilage is broken. I'm going to check with a doctor as soon as I go back home, as I'm currently abroad until Monday. But until then I need some piece of mind, can this be fixed without surgery? Thank you for your question and I’m sorry about what happened to you this soon after surgery. You will need an in-person assessment to determine whether the cartilage was actually fractured or simply shifted. It is also possible you might have broken a suture holding the cartilage in place. There is no way to tell for sure whether additional surgery is needed at this time, but if you do need a procedure, it is possible it will be minimally-invasive and can be performed in the doctor’s office using local anesthetic. I encourage you to see your doctor as soon as you return to the states for a full assessment.

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you in the immediate post operative period. If cartilage was grafted into your tip it is usually secured with small sutures. It is difficult to tell without being examined, one of the sutures may have broken or the cartilage may have shifted, but it would be best to be evaluated by your surgeon to get a better idea of what is going on.

I am so sad for the accident that happened to you.  Cartilages are flexible.  Cartilages may have been displaced after the accident.  I hope, it will be fix with a small operation.  You need a real exam to be sure.  If you're bleeding, you can have a cold compress.  (not ice)
