Will Smiling and Yawning in the First Week After Alarplasty Affect the Final Results?

It has been exactly one week since my alarplasty and there have been a few times when I've smiled/yawned/sneezed and I felt as if my nostrils would rip. I haven't had my sutures removed yet. Can these things affect the final outcome of my alarplasty?

Alar plasty will not reduce a nose that over widens upon smiling. All noses get wider when you smile.  Alar plasty is to narrow the nostril sil when you're not smiling.

Correction of excess alar nostril size or flaring, can be corrected with alar base reduction. However, this does warrant an external base scar which in a high majority of patients is almost imperceptible long term.

You are correct in that cinch sutures may change your smile. However, it could improve with time and may not need to be removed. I would seek the advice and consultation of your rhinoplasty surgeon.
