Smart Lipo Done - 8 Days Later and Still Very Swollen? Is This Normal?

I had smart Lipo under my chin, with the three incision points, which are healing nicely. The laser treatment happend about 8 days ago and I am bigger, more swollen than I was before I had the surgery from just fat. It's been itchy, still numb underneath my chin. I ice it regularly and keep the compression on it at all times. My sister had this done about 6 months ago and she seemed to have much less swelling. Should I be having this much swelling at day 8? I see no results, is there a problem?

Smartlipo is normal, please do not worry. You will be swollen for the next few
weeks, wearing the compression garment will help with any swelling that may
occur. Follow up with your surgeon and you will eventually see the swelling
reside and your new figure.

Smart lipo uses a very powerful laser energy to melt the fat and heat the deep surface of the skin to encourage long term skin tightening. This does result in swelling of the skin, and skin tightening may take 3 to 6 months to accomplish. At 8 days, you are very early on in your process.
