Hair transplants and Scalp Micropigmentation (or both) can be used to treat craniotomy scar.Hair transplant will just add hairs but you may need more than one surgery as transplanted hair may not completely cover the scar.Neograft, ARTAS, and FUE has nothing to do with results. They are just methods (instruments) in harvesting the grafts. Don't be fooled by technology.Scalp MicroPigmentation can help disguise the scar by decreasing the contrast between hair and scalp.A combination of SMP and hair transplant may provide optimal results.
Yes, most scars on the scalp are amenable to hair transplantation. In fact, a good part of my practice is putting hairs into scars from prior strip method procedures from hair transplantation. However, some scars won't accept a graft. Thus the combination is to punch out to shrink areas that aren't good for grafting, and to put hairs where you can. You will need to see someone with experience to get an optimal result. I recommend a Board Certified plastic surgeon who understands "tissues" and NeoGraft technology for transplantation. Very good question.
For your best answer, you should consider a face to face consultation with a surgeon that is familiar not only with hair restoration procedures like Neograft/FUE but also scar revision procedures. It is impossible to say if you would be better served by having the scar cut out and revised in hopes of improving or disguising it or if there is enough good circulation in the scar to support the growth of transplanted follicles. Rather than guess or assume, a consultation is your best bet. Good luck
Absolutely, hair transplants are routinely performed for this reason. The graft survival can sometimes be slightly lower than a non-scarred area but it works well.
I have transplanted crainiotomy scars on many patients and the results are very good. In the past 5 years, I have found that Scalp Micropigmentation is a better approach to these scars. See web reference below
In most cases I recommend that scars be excised if possible because transplants may not grow well in the scars that have reduced circulation. Pictures would be helpful.
Transplants can work. If the scar is wide, i ususlly recommend scar revision first. Hair transplants can always be done later.
Sorry to hear about your scar problems. One of the main reasons that Neograft has become so popular for patients desiring hair transplantation procedures is the fact that there is no chance of an unsightly linear scar or a linear scar devoid of hair. Your options range from 1) doing nothing to...
It seems that you caused a graft or two to fall out. Bleeding is a sign that you lost a graft or more. You must be very gentle immediately after a hair transplant
Even on drugs to prevent a rejection of your kidney, you should not get a hair transplant from another donor; however, if you are healthy you might get a standard hair transplant from your own donor supply
Hair transplant is the movement of an entire hair follicle into a small slit. The skin and tissue heals well enough the majority of the time, the dermal papilla or the part of the hair necessary for growth can be intact even if the grafts fall out. The general term used for grafts falling out...
You should NOT have a hair transplant. Your biggest enemy is the progressive thinning leading to a balding pattern that is not evident at this point in time. The degree of thinning that might be showing would suggest that you should see a doctor who most likely will get Bulk Measurements of ...
Dear emrenassThanks for the question. There is no age limit as such for a hair transplantation. But people under the age group of 18 years to 80 years usually options for hair transplantation as the symptoms of balding and spot balding occur within this span of life. I wish you all the best.
