After a Brazilian Butt Lift, usually you can resume sitting usually within a week or so depending on how your healing is progressing and when you are comfortable doing so. It also depends on what specific procedures you had done as well as how your recovery is going.Obviously the body heals with swelling and inflammation and usually that maxes out at two days and then starts getting better. Most of these patients take no pain medicine (because of the nerve blocks given during surgery) and usually feel very comfortable going out in public the same or next days. I usually call my patients the night of surgery and check on them in person the next day. If everything is fine the next day, I then let them shower and they do not need a dressing over their incisions. At the two week check up, I usually have people start working out and then after six weeks they can do whatever they want. I routinely tell people to take a few days to a week off work and to hide out but some people are very nervous especially celebrities and they might hide out for two weeks. As with any scar on the human body, initially scars are red, hard and raised and it typically takes six months to a year for them to become a soft thin white line. Additionally with recovery, there're many things we do to expedite healing such as nerve blocks during surgery, oral supplements, skin care and scar therapy recommendations, lymphatic massage sessions that are included in our pricing.I strongly feel that it's very important to have an honest conversation with your surgeon about your particular situation, lifestyle, work environment and specifically which procedures you're having done so that you both have the most honest answer about your recovery and are realistic with expectations and results.I would recommend that you see a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area that is a member of both ASPS & ASAPS and performs a lot of butt lifts. I hope my answer helps and if it does, please take a moment to up vote this answer on the “respond” button on the top right. Have a great day.
You should wait at least 2 weeks before sitting without a support cushion and sleeping on your back. Sitting with no support too soon can harm the newly moved fat cells.
I tell my patients they can sit after 6 weeks to prevent from killing the fat, but every surgeon has different post op care instructions consult with your PS.
Very good question Noelia. It will depend on your surgeon but in my case I like patients to wait, or at least avoid direct sitting for about 3 - 4 weeks. After that it is always best to try to aviod pressure by sitting on the upper part of your thighs. Patients can use a Booty Buddy or any other post bbl pillow immediately, without a problem. Sitting up straight, with good poster puts most your weight on your thighs. This means you can actually avoid pressure on your BBL by sitting on your thighs more often. This is good idea if you need to sit for long periods of time at work and cannot take your bbl pillow with you. In the end, the more you avoid pressure on your butt the better.Best of luck,Dr. Miguel Mota
Hello noeliatorres40,It’s a pleasure to answer your questions! In my experience, patients who successfully avoid sitting or putting pressure on their buttocks or stretching for the first 8 weeks after surgery are much more likely to have long-lasting results than patients who fail to follow this advice. Putting pressure on your buttocks by sitting down or laying on it, especially for long periods of time, can stiffen, deform and even cause the transplanted fat cells to reabsorb. Hope this is helpful! Dr. De La Cruz.
In my opinion, you can sit for brief periods of time on a soft pillow immediately after the procedure. The whole goal for the first 3 weeks is to stay off the butt in any one position, for any significant amount of time, so keep moving around and using the soft pillow during your recovery. You put in a great amount of effort and money into this surgery and you want to make sure you set yourself up for the best results!
I recommend my patients to avoid sitting the first two weeks after surgery. Then, a special BBL pillow can be used for sitting (for short durations).
It really depends from surgeon to surgeon. My patients can sit immediately but they are sitting on a post BBL pillow. I usually allow direct sitting at 2-4 weeks. Hope this helps.
In my practice we advise the patient not to sit directly on the buttocks for the first two weeks following the BBL procedure. We also provide every one of my BBL patients a comfort pillow that offloads any pressure from the buttocks, as well as a surgical garment. Offloading pressure from the buttocks is recommended for two weeks, and each patient will be in a compressive garment for a full month. You should consult with your surgeon if there are any concerns in regards to your particular case. I hope that answers your question on recovery. It's great you're doing your research. I always say that the best patients are informed patients. Thanks for reading and best of luck on your journey!
Thanks for the question. Ideally you want to start sitting after 2 weeks. And even then, you want to offload the pressure on the 'meat' of the buttocks by putting most of the pressure on the bottom of the thighs by sitting forward. There are special pillows that help offload the pressure as well.

A BBL may be appropriate for you to contour your flanks, waist, lower back and buttocks. How much volume and projection is added to the buttocks depends on how much fat is available for liposuction. Even if only a modest amount of fat can be retrieved and transferred, the contouring improvement ...
