Breast ache/hurt when lying down to sleep. Is this normal?

I am 5 days post op and have been sleeping upright since my day of surgery. My back start to hurt so I asked my doc if I could lie down flat on my back to sleep. So last night I tried last and few hours later I woke up as the side of my breasts start to hurt and I couldn’t move. Is this normal?

If your implants were placed behind the muscle, it will be much more comfortable to sleep somewhat elevated. Try placing a pillow under your knees when you lay on your back. If you lay flat, you will feel more pressure or pain from the implants pushing on the muscle, and the muscle pushing back. this will gradually improve over time as your muscles relax and the tissue stretches.

Thanks for the question and provided information as well.
At the stage you are in, inflammation and discomfort are normal, specially after lying down for the hole night.
If this doesn't improve over time, please follow up close with your plastic surgeon.

Discomfort when laying flat is not uncommon at this phase of recovery.  You may want to ease into the process by elevating your head with a couple of pillows.  The discomfort should improve as you continue to heal.
