Fatty liver. Can I still have a BBL & lipo once my levels go down?

I'm planning on having BBl & lipo next year but my gastroenterologist said I had fatty liver. Can I still have surgery once my levels go down?

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, fatty liver is not a contraindication for surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Once your gastroenterologist and board certified plastic surgeon approves, you should be good to go.
If you are a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), the optimal outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique. The great majority of patients with fatty liver still have a totally normal liver function.

For that reason and it’s south having a fatty liver really isn’t much of a contraindication to having cosmetic surgery.

The underlying reason for fatty liver may however be a serious contraindication to being a good candidate for surgery.

Fatty liver can be caused by obesity, alcohol abuse and a list of other conditions.

If someone has more advanced liver disease and that is progressing to cirrhosis then they are definitely not a candidate for cosmetic surgery.  in regards to liver function there’s a drastic difference between cirrhosis and fatty liver.

You really haven’t listed any information for us to make an assessment if you’re a candidate for a BBL. At  a minimum you should post pictures.

I suppose most plastic surgeons may be reluctant to do a procedure on someone with a fatty liver especially without clearance from a hepatologist/gastroenterologist.  I would be in that category.

I suggest having a few in person consultations to help determine if you’re a candidate for this procedure.

Seems like first priority is to address the underlying cause for your liver disease.
