In the 90's maybe early 2000 very large breast implants were all the rage and now a lot of those women that went porn star big are wanting them removed and getting a lift with smaller implants. Why are so many women now getting these huge BBLs making them look fat? When these women reach their 50s and no longer have the type of skin that supports all that butt fat they will get " diaper butt". Do you see the trend switching to butt liposuction?

Answer: Trends in cosmetic surgery As we mature we see trends more easily. We recognize the things that are now popular may not be popular in the future. The majority of patients who are seeking this procedure our young women often driven by emotions and spending far too much time staring at a screen rather than facing life straight on. Not really all that different than young people getting their Tattoos which are for the most part later regretted. No question this trend will swing towards normal female body contours. Surgeons try to stay the course but patients blame us for not delivering pipe dreams of happiness. Liposuction of the buttocks as a primary procedure has never been particularly common. Few patients are true candidates for it and the area is a bit challenging to treat because of an abundance of connective tissue. Gluteal Liposuction has been done, and will be done on those who are appropriate candidates by surgeons who feel it can help their patients. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
