What would the ideal cup size be for a woman who is 6' tall and 190lbs?

Many women wonder if there is an "ideal" cup size. Unfortunately, using cup size to determine what will be the best outcome for your breast reduction surgery isn't the guide to use. You may have found in bra shopping that cup size varies across manufacturers. Rather, find some photos of the breast size(s) that you like and would be happy with. Then share these when meeting with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who can best guide you in the most appropriate breast size given your height, weight, and build.

Surgeons prefer not to discuss the expectations of surgery in terms of cup size since is inexact and often misleading measurement. Cup size varies significantly from company to company and even within the same company. Consult in person with 3 experienced and expert board certified plastic surgeons to understand your options.

I would suggest that you communicate your goals clearly with your plastic surgeon and make sure that you have realistic expectations prior to proceeding with any type of surgery.  Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work so you feel comfortable that he/she can achieve the outcome you are looking for. In regards to breast size desired, also communicate carefully. In my practice the use of goal pictures are helpful in this regard; a discussion of cup size can be confusing and imprecise.  For example, “C or D cup” or “proportionate" may mean different things to different people,  and therefore may be a source of miscommunication.    In other words, I would not suggest that you communicate your goals and/or base your satisfaction with the outcome of surgery on achieving a specific cup size.  Also, keep in mind that removal of a certain amount of tissue does not necessarily correspond to the achievement of a specific cup size.

As you know, cup size will vary according to the bra manufacturer.  I seldom discuss cup size with my patients; rather, I convey that one of the goals of the surgery is to make the breasts fit the body.  Since every person's body frame is different, a certain cup size will look very different on different people.  A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon can help you to understand breast reduction surgery in greater detail, and to determine if you would be an appropriate candidate for the procedure. There is no such thing as an overall ideal breast size, each person will have a different answer based on their sense of beauty. But with your hypertrophy just about anything will be a major improvement in comfort and looks. BTW, no one can reduce a breast to a specific bra cup size.
