I have a small, receding chin and slight overbite. Also, having a double chin runs in my family and my mother has had a double chin since she was about 30 years old. I want to improve my facial structure and prevent a double chin. What is the best way to do this, and what is the least expensive way to fix this? I know those two questions might have different answers but I would like to hear my options. Thanks!
Answer: #SlidingGenioplastyOrChinAugmentationOptions The short answer is that either #SlidingGenioplastyOrChinAugmentation would be of benefit to you. Both procedures would work for you however a chin implant is less expensive, and a faster recovery. #Submental Liposuction or #KybellaInjections are helpful only if there is extra fat below the chin. Chin augmentation most often is used to restore balance to the face due to a weak chin (under-projecting in profile). This disproportion of facial structure—having a small chin—tends to make the nose look larger and results in a poor jaw/neckline. As it doesn’t support the neck skin, often it causes skin to hang down from the upper neck and can lead eventually to a “turkey waddle” deformity. Chin implants can also create a wider, stronger chin. They can also be used to lengthen the face slightly. The augmentation is performed with a sterile, biologically inert implant (such as silicone or Medpor) which is placed over the bone of the lower jaw so it feels like your real chin and not like a separate implant.A wide range of chin implants are available, depending on the patient’s needs and goals. These implants vary in their dimensions and are made of different materials. The proper selection of the correct size and type of implant by your plastic surgeon is critical for you to achieve the look you want.It is very important to select a highly-skilled, board-certified plastic surgeon

Answer: Jaw surgery and a double chin Based on your photographs, without seeing pictures of your teeth, I would assume that you have an overbite. You also have and asymmetry of your jaw. I would suggest mandibular advancement surgery and either a sliding genioplasty or a chin implant. With respect to a double chin, it is always possible. I can guarantee you that if you over eat, gain too much weight, and do not exercise for years, you will more than likely get a double chin. In addition, no one can stop the aging process. Everyone's face ages in a different way. There are many factors involved in this. Nobody can guarantee that you will never get a double chin. Now, if after you have jaw surgery and chin surgery, and you should develop a double chin, say, 10 years from now, there are neck procedures that can take care of this. Best of luck to you. Answer: Sliding genioplasty versus a chin implant A sliding genioplasty is performed by oral surgeon under general anesthesia in a hospital setting with at least one overnight stay. A genioplasty will accomplish projection of the chin in addition to allowing the teeth to fit together more properly. A chin implant is performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure and simply augments the chin forward cosmetically. Chin implants are manufactured in a variety of shapes, sizes, are composed of Silastic, and are usually placed through a submental approach. Answer: Does chin and jaw surgery prevent a double chin from forming in the future? Hi, from the photos, your chin is very weak. A weak chin has a smaller area, beneath the chin, for neck skin and fatty tissue making an accumulation of either appear exaggerated. I have performed many chin augmentations, using chin implant, for 30 years that add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face. Chin Implants are far less invasive than a sliding Genioplasty, IMHO. Having the chin projection increased will create more room, under the chin, for neck skin and tissues to reside making them look less full. You can mimick this effect by jutting out your chin while looking in the mirror. Hope this helps.
