I have very overdeveloped traps and a tight chest. The result is that my shoulder really project out from my back and I always look sort of hunched over and like I have a short neck. I'm a 5' ft. tall woman, so even a little improvement would be noticeable. Is botox an option for those areas? If so, how many units would it take? Thank you!
Answer: Botox results take up to 1-2 weeks and last up to 3-4 months in new areas of treatment. See an expert. Dr. Emer Thank you for your question, I would not recommend Botox as the go to treatment for your concern. This would require a very high amount of units and it would only last about 3-4 months. I recommend seeing your primary care physician to see what would be the best route for you to take, in regards to getting your posture back. I hope this was helpful. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Can I do Botox for posture and shoulders? Thank you for sharing your excellent question. I would not recommend Botox to treat this problem as it is unlikely to provide suitable results and would require extensive units. I would recommend working with a therapist to improve upon your posture, or a personal trainer to help strengthen your core and back muscles to reverse the hunched over posture common in society. Hope this helps.

Answer: Botox for posture I would not recommend using Botox to treat your posture. The amount of Botox needed to treat large muscles, such as the trapezii and shoulder muscles, is much much more than that used to treat cosmetic issues on the face. When large doses of Botox are used, the chances of dangerous side effects are much greater. There are safer treatments to help with posture. I would discuss your concern with your doctor so that potential treatment could be discussed.

Answer: Botox injection for overdeveloped traps and chest tightness It is not clear what you mean by overdeveloped traps and whether it asymmetrical. Is there an associated spasm? You also mentioned about chest tightness. You need to be examined properly by a physician with an expertise in muscle pathology to properly evaluate your situation. You can look for a physician in your area with expertise in using botox for treating dystonia or muscle spasticity (usually a Neuromuscular Medicine specialist) to give you a good opinion whether botox injection can help you.
