No butt crack. Can he get a procedure to reconstruct a butt crack?

I have had the pleasure, in both my general surgery training days as well as my 18 years as a plastic surgeon, reconstructing buttock abnormalities secondary to trauma, surgery, or congenital (birth) defects. Without seeing photos of your husbands anatomic problem, it sounds as though he could most benefit from a functional standpoint in addition to any cosmetic benefits - in other words, it would be nice if he did not have to shower after every bowel  movement.  An in person consultation is the next most important step to determine what surgical procedure is possible and most beneficial to him. There are many conditions that cause chronic problems and aggravation of the gluteal crease. Some of these require reconstruction that change how the tissues are aligned. Your best bet is to have your husband talk to an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon who has ample experience with reconstructive surgery. There may be room for improvement, though this is much too complex to address with any accuracy on a forum such as RealSelf.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
