Hello Lavender66. Thank you for your question regarding a 30-pound weight loss and what plastic surgery procedure you should consider to tighten/flatten my tummy after two sessions of liposuction. Thank you for your history and your pictures. First, we should analyze your pictures to determine the best plastic surgery procedure. You have cutis pleonasmus (excess skin) and dermatocholosis (loose skin) of your abdomen and superior iliac crest (“love handles"). You have mild lipodystrophy (excess fat) of the anterior abdominal wall--not much, because of your weight loss and history of liposuction. You also have weakened abdominal wall musculature (rectus abdominis), evident on sitting and standing profile photos. Therefore, you need correction of the abdominal skin and muscle, not fat. Therefore, you would do best with an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck. Further abdominal liposuction will cause more loose abdominal skin. The tummy tuck takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete under general anesthesia. The abdominoplasty includes removal of excess abdominal skin and fat, plication of the rectus abdominis muscle, pubic lift and reduction, and relocation of your umbilicus (belly button). Plan to give yourself 2 weeks of recovery. You could probably return to a desk job in about 2 to 3 weeks. Probably, no elective exercising for about 4 to 6 weeks after surgery. Most plastic surgeons offer free virtual or in-office physical consultations. Therefore, explore what other plastic surgeons have to say. Good luck. I hope that I have answered your question regarding a 30-pound weight loss and what plastic surgery procedure you should consider to tighten/flatten my tummy after two sessions of liposuction. If you have any more questions regarding tummy tucks, abdominoplasties, or abdominal liposuction, contact an experienced plastic surgeon. Since the tummy tuck surgery is a big procedure, please seek an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon with significant experience in performing tummy tucks. Do your research. If you cannot find an experienced tummy tuck plastic surgeon in your neighborhood, consider traveling out of state. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen, MD, MBA, FACS, FICS.
