How can I fix this dent in my thigh? (Photo)

Question

I have always had this dent in my left thigh for as long as I can remember. It is very unflattering as looks like cellulite but think it may be caused from fat atrophy of an unkown cause. What would be the recommended treatment for this, liposuction with fat transfer? Filler? Thanks

Thank you for your question and photo. As a Total Definer surgeon, I specialize in VASER Hi Def Lipo and advanced body sculpting techniques. This dent cannot be removed with liposuction and/or fat grafting or fillers. This is created by dense fibrous bands just like one sees in cellulite. To treat these, I use the GoldIncision procedure to release the fibrous attachments and use Radiesse as a biostimulator at the same time. This procedure is done awake under local anesthesia only. BTW, you do have other areas of depression seen in this limited view photo. I'm the only surgeon in the US who trained with the inventor of the GoldIncision technique in Brazil.

A long-standing dent in one thigh is usually a combination of volume loss and fibrous tethering rather than pure cellulite. If it has been there since childhood it may reflect a natural contour variant or a deep septum. If there was a past injection or trauma, true lipoatrophy is possible.
What tends to work• Subcision to release the tethered fibrous bands under the dent• Autologous fat grafting with microfat to restore volume, often planned in one to two sessions with mild overfill due to expected resorption

That Outer thigh area can be stubborn fat with skin ligaments underneath causing indents, contours that are stubborn to diet and exercise.

This can be contoured smoother with Vaser ultrasound liposuction and fat shifting/tranfer.

This will greatly improve the area with minimal recovery.

An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to confirm you are a candidate as well as discuss your options and expectations.

From your photo, the dent on your thigh looks more like a localized volume deficiency rather than something caused by cellulite. In cases like this, removing more fat with liposuction usually does not help and can make the indentation more noticeable.
The most reliable approach is to restore some volume in the area&mdash;either with conservative fat transfer or with a suitable filler designed for the body. The choice depends on your tissue quality and how much correction you need, which is best assessed in person. An in-person exam will give a clearer idea of which option would provide the most natural improvement.

Based on the one posted photo there are non-surgical options of injection of Sculptra in multiple sessions most likely will need 8 to 10 vials expect fee to range $30,000. Or use of the new FDA approved fat human material ALLOCLAE injections fee in the same range.
