I want to remove my masseter muscle – I have a big, robust one. But I’ve heard it grows back. Should I ask the doctor to remove extra, assuming it’ll grow back a bit?

When you remove the masseter, you have to balance the inherent asymmetry of the face. You can remove different shape, width, and height based on what you are seeing. Once it is gone, it is pretty well gone. Some people get swelling long-term or scarring that will happen late which looks similar to 'regrowth.' It is also common that the jawline itself is wide, so may be something to look into having reduced at the same time.

Hello Luminous593734,I don't recommend extracting a muscle. I think you should try to make it weak. As a masticatory muscle the masseter muscle is used very often, and in some patients this muscle grows stronger, affecting their normal life even with migraines. My patients benefit from Botox, this treatment makes the muscle weaker for a period of time improving their facial aspects but also their quality of life. I really recommend you consult a Board-Certified Plastic surgeon in your area, applying this technique in unappropriated hands could lead to Facial sequels.
