I had a failed hair transplant that left me with a caveman like hairline. I want something more feminine looking but I do not know what to do. I’m addition the hair is spare which only adds to how unattractive it looks.

Thanks for your question. The density of the hairline is low and seems like the grafts used for the hair line are too thick. It's important to know how long it's been after the transplantation. You could get more hair growing and the texture of the hair can go back to normal. After a year post-op, if your problems still continues, you can consider a corrective hair transplant to increase the density and achieving more natural result.

A few things were done in your hairline that caused the unnatural look... The position of the hairline, the placement of 2- and 3-hair follicular units on the edge of the hairline, and the lack of density. Without a more detailed exam and without knowing how many grafts were placed it is hard to say if there was poor growth or not. Either way, there are things that can be done to correct the results. You will have to be patient and be willing to have a couple of procedures to get there.

You could be a candidate for FUT or FUE which would allow grafts to be obtained quite easily that could then be transplanted in the hairline to "soften" the current hairline and to provide more density. Additionally, upon examination in-person, a decision with your hair restoration surgeon could be made to remove some of the existing hairs in the hairline as well should it be necessary. An in-office assessment is the first step during which you are provided education to empower your decision-making for the ideal treatment moving forward.

In your case, it would be advised to add density to the existing hairline, while feminizing the shape overall. The existing hairline should be continued down in order to frame your face and be drawn down through the temple area with a natural curvature. The frontal area needs additional grafts placed in between the existing grafts, and then traced down by the temples to feminize the complete hairline. We specialize in female hairlines.
