Viviscal vs Nutrafol for thinning hair?

I believe that nutraceuticals do help a multifactorial type hair loss. Both products contain Marine nutrients. Only nutrafol has additional modulators of receptors that can help with stress and, oxidative species and DHT. Nutrafol has a separate formulation for men and women. In conclusion, nutrafol is a more complete hair supplement.

It is best to follow your doctor's advice about treating a medical condition.  Rogaine is a medication for treating thinning hair.  There are may over the counter supplements (which are not medications).  These supplements do not grow hair.  They are supplements or vitamins that are suppose to be "good" for the hair for treating "TEMPORARY" hair loss (if you read the studies).  Temporary hair loss means your hair will grow back without any treatment since by definition the hair loss as "temporary".

Thank you for your question. Both Viviscal and Nutrafol are successful at treating hair thinning and we have carried both of these products in our office. Nutrafol, however, is more effective at not only provided the body with the nutrients needed but also addresses other issues that play a roll in hair loss like stress and hormones. Viviscal and Nutrafol are catching the attention of dermatologists and other docs who treat hair loss, because each of these supplements is now backed by research published in peer-reviewed medical journals. (Not just marketing studies!) They haven't been tested head-to-head  to see which may be most beneficial, but here are some things to consider: 1) These supplements are thought to be most helpful in male or female pattern hair loss (the genetic type called androgenetic alopecia), but are not necessarily helpful in other types of hair loss (there are many kinds). 2) Viviscal is a seafood based supplement, so shouldn't be used by those with seafood allergies or sensitivity. 3) Women pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid these because the safety profile in these times of life is not known. 4) If you try one of these supplements, mentally commit to at least 6 months, because hair growth takes time. If you don't notice improvement after 6 months, stop. If you do notice improvement, you may actually lose the gains you've made if you stop taking the supplements. 5) These supplements probably work best if you take them along with Rogaine / minoxidil as a topical therapy! I like Nutrafol more. I have seen better results with it on my patients. That being said not everyone is the same. And it is hard to judge because it's not like we divide patients equally between the two and decide. So to be fair there is some bias- I use more Nutrafol and see good result. The patients on Viviscal not as good, but I have many more on Nutrafol. But if I had to choose one, it would be Nutrafol.

Follow the advice of your doctor who has the advantage of having examined you. Ask your doctor about that as well
