Unplanned pregnancy 7 weeks after tummy tuck. What are the risks?

Question

I am 43 and had my full tummy tuck and breast lift 7 weeks ago, including abdominal wall repair. I discovered over the weekend that I am quite unexpectedly pregnant, in spite of preventive measures. I would never terminate the pregnancy unless there were serious health risks to either myself or the baby. What are the potential risks, aside from probably ruining my surgery results?

That's quite a pleasant surprise!
Your tummy tuck should pose no threat to you or your baby, and it's not likely
to interfere with your pregnancy in any way. However, you should let your
obstetrician know just so he or she has a full picture of your health history.
You can expect your abdomen to change as the result of your pregnancy, but not
all women who have had children after tummy tuck need to undergo revisionary

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Generally, it is possible to carry a baby safely after having the abdominoplasty procedure in the past.  Pregnancy after abdominoplasty may cause changes that will require further surgery to correct. Best wishes.

Besides gaining weight and stretching out your skin and muscles, the risks to you are probably the same as those patients your age who did not have a tummy tuck.  You will probably need a revision in the future.  Good luck with your pregnancy.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.  You will definitely have a story to tell from now on!!  A
pregnancy after a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty has no added risks to you or
your baby.  The pregnancy may stretch out
your abdominal wall and skin but the likelihood of your having to redo your
tummy tuck is relatively low provided you keep your weight gain down.  The recommendation I have given in the past
is 20 to 30 pounds total and the women who have stick to that have had no
problems with their abdominoplasty after that.I hope that helps.All the best.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.  There should be no risk to having a baby following a tummy tuck.  the pregnancy may stretch out the tummy tuck to some extent, but even if this does occur there options for tummy tuck revision down the road.
