I am 33 and have a pre jowl sulcus since I was a teenager. Based on my X-rays I was told I am barely a candidate for a genioplasty… (marginal improvement for 8K) — however, I am wondering if a small implant would reduce the shadowing of the pre jowls and help harmonise the face. I feel I look weird, like my upper and lower face dont match. I have attached photos (as well as an X-ray). Thank you very much.

Answer: Chin implant Based on your photos it appears that your chin is narrow and a small pre-jowl implant would provide a nice jawline contour. This implant comes in two styles: with and without horizontal advancement. I have treated many cases like this and this implant is a nice option.

Consider placement of a chin implant to augment the chin forward and improve pre-jowl sulcus. In our practice, we use Implantech brand of solid silicone chin implant for over 25 years with an excellent success rate. We also place these implants through a submental approach under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure.

Answer: Chin contour You have a narrow lower jaw and as such, the tissues 'drape' over the jawline in the 'jowl' zone. One can certainly define the lower jaw from the angle to chin; or just augment the 'side of the chin/prejowl'. Fillers can give you an idea of the look; but obviously need to be repeated.
