I am prone to keloid scarring. Can keloids form on the face?

Dear Spaceprincess95, A keloid is a thick, raised scar formation that grows beyond the initial scar boundaries. They can certainly occur anywhere on the body as there are several factors that influence keloid formation. These are genetic, local and systemic factors. Keloids are extremely rare after rhinoplasty.  I have never seen one form in over 20 years of performing rhinoplasty.  They are more common around the ears, neck, and chest.

 Yes, keloids can form on the face, but they're much less  chance on the face that on the shoulder/ trunk area. It's extremely rare to have a keloid form on the Eyelids after a blepharoplasty. A closed rhinoplasty approach can accomplish making the required changes to your nose which would completely eliminate the chance of a keloid. All the incisions are placed on the inside of the nose. No external incisions are required.
