Would jawline augmentation with chin implant or neck lift and lipo be best for a permanent profile result?

Question

I am 30, 5’6 and 125lbs but due to genetics have poor jawline definition. This has bothered me for years and I will meet with three surgeons to consult in person but I need advice on what procedure would give me the best permanent desired result. My concern is when I smile my chin looks long and sharp from the front but not at all from the sides. Is there a way to get overall definition without elongating the bottom of my chin but by going forward or with a special kind of implant?

Based on these photos, it looks that you may benefit from chin augmentation with well selected implant.;there is also a degree of asymmetry present that must be taken into consideration. Large jowls and poorly defined jawline would benefit from neck liposuction, possibly neck lift. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, expert in facial rejuvenation, would help. Good luck.

Your best option would be with a chin implant and neck lipo done together.  A neck lift is typically not necessary at your young age - unless you have had massive weight loss.

Your photographs demonstrate significant chin recession and a chin implant would certainly be helpful in correcting this recession. Your chin position changes with smiling as it does for us all but the size, shape and contour of the implant should be chosen for the resting position. Consulting with a surgeon experienced in chin implant surgery can be very helpful. You will be able to see the various implant sizes, shapes and contour, feel and touch the implants, and work with the surgeon to achieve your ideal result.

You have correctly surmised that to get the jawline definition that you seek, but without adding undesired additional vertical chin length a special or custom implant design is needed. Only such a design can potentially create the type of ideal jawlines you have shown.

To me, it looks as if a chin implant will help you with two things:  it will bring your chin point forward, and also make the area under your chin look longer from the profile view.  I do not think that you would benefit from fat removal from under your chin, because I do not really see any fat there. (Of course, and in-person evaluation would be better able to determine this.) If you are interested in making your jawline look different back toward the ear, you might want to consider having some filler placed in that area to give it more definition.

The photographs demonstrate a recessive chin profile for which a chin implant can certainly improve your facial balance and proportions by augmenting the chin forward.  In our practice, we use Implantech brand of solid silicone chin implants for over 30 years with an excellent success rate.This will also give better structural support to the soft tissues in the neck. Liposuction alone can only remove fatty deposits above the platysma muscle, while a surgical neck lift is required to remove fat deposits below the platysma muscle. This also includes a platysma plasty which significantly improves the jawline. No skin removal is necessary.
