How to hide nose splint after Rhinoplasty?

Question

I'm getting a nose job in the summer. I will most likely (I assume) have a splint/cast over my nose. How can I hide this for the trip back home after the Dr's? Which would be about half an hour. Can I remove it for that time period?

Please do not remove the splint immediately after surgery. Most surgeons would want it to stay in place undisturbed for 3 to 7 days. For the short duration of your trip home after the surgery just wear a veil of a cowboy style handkerchief. The latter may draw more attention than the splint would. Best would be to be brave and show off your splint. People in South American Countries wear their post surgical bandages very proudly in public as a sign of having arrived in the high category class of a cosmetic surgery patient. Please adopt a Brazilian attitude towards your nasal split and wear it like a medal of honour!

The splint is placed across the top of the nose to hold the nasal bones in place after osteotomies have been performed. It is very important not to remove that for one week after the surgery, because the nasal bones can drift. Anticipate 2 weeks of  visible bruising and swelling after the surgical procedure.

The only suggestion I have to hide your splint is to wear a scarf or a burka. Hopefully it is a cold day in Seattle.
