The post-care instructions for Halo may vary for provider. At our office we give 1 GM of Valtrex and 10 mg Prednisone just prior to theprocedure and 2 days post-therapy. Wealso use Alastin Nectar Serum only for the first 24 hours and AlastinOccclusive Moisturizer for 1-2 weeks. Immediately post-procedure we use a SkinCeuticals mask to help with cooling measures. We do not recommend anyexfoliation for two week. It is especially important to avoid sun exposure andwear sunscreen for two weeks after the Halo as the skin is still healing.
Your provider should give you post care instructions that you should follow. Usually, post care will be some brand of gentle cleanser and lotion that you will use for up to the first week after treatment. You would next start introducing medical grade products into you regimen for best results.
This is individualized to the persons skin type and aggressiveness of the procedure. I suggest you speak to your physician and get a proper plan in place. In my practice this is very deailed and outlines to get the best results. Best, Dr. Emer.
As with most ablative lasers, after Halo, we need to keep the skin clean with a non exfoliating cleanser, preserve moisture and protect with a physical SPF.The most common problem we notice is preserving the moisture level. As the Halo laser wavelength targets the water molecule in the skin, there is significant trans epidermal water loss. The second most common problem is redness. This improves after the first three days.Do not use any exfoliants or Retinol containing products for at least 2-4 weeks.Must protect your new baby skin from UV A and UV B rays!!Hope this helps! Best, Dr B
Hi and thank you for you question! We recommend a gentle cleanser and moisturizer such as cetaphil and suggest a post recovery serum with growth factors such as Recovery complex. In addition, we suggest the patient does "Vinegar Soaks" a few times per day (for the first 3-5 days or so) with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar mixed with room temperature water. This helps the healing process. Best, Dr. Grant Stevens
Depending on which Dr. you choose and the intensity of your treatment. Expect to be swollen for the first couple days, especially in the mid face. Applying ice packs may help with the swelling and propping up some pillows at night to avoid laying flat. You may wash you face twice daily as normal but use a gentle cleanser like cetaphil. These are some things to expect but contact your doctor for further instructions.
Although the majority of your skin is healed at this point, you still have some healing that is taking place and this can often lead to dryness. We recommend a Hydrafacial treatment to all of our Halo patients 2 weeks after surgery to help exfoliate any remaining skin and infuse hydration...
Although the Halo laser is not primarily for skin tightening, many patients do feel and see a tightening effect. The ablative setting of this laser is takes off dead skin and the non-ablative layer stimulates collagen causing a natural tightening effect.
Depending on what concerns you have I would recommend anywhere from 1- 3 sessions. If the concern is full texture resurfacing (deep wrinkles, crepey/sagging skin, UV damage, pores) especially for patients 40 +. I would recommend a series of 3 sessions spaced 2 months apart. Then for maintenance...
