In a BA without any issues other then pockets too wide (implants fall onto sides when lying on back) what options are there for fixing this?? What is the popcorn method and what kind of scarring does that involve externally? Size, feel, and all else is great so don't want them removed and replaced, just want the pocket tightened on the outsides under the arms. Thank you!
Answer: How to fix implant malposition Implants that are too far to the side can be fixed by moving the implants to the proper position and sewing closed the lateral pocket. Using a textured implant helps maintain the new position. This can be done with an under the breast incision or sometimes with an incision under the areola

CONTACT NOW Answer: Popcorn method for breast implant revision. Hi, Thanks for posting your question. I am happy to try and help you. It is important to remember that a board certified plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to an accurate assessment of your situation, and concerns. Having said that, I have not ever heard of that method? The way to manage too large a breast implant pocket is to sew it closed with internal stitches. They are called capsulorrhaphy stitches. I hope you found this helpful. As always, ask your PS first about any questions. Have a great day.

Answer: "Popcorn method" of closing capsules involves using a cautery to burn the excess capsule then over-sewing the good edges together to diminish the size of your implant pocket. It has been shown to work but I prefer to remove the capsule if possible then sew the tissues together prior to re-closing the capsule with another row of sutures.

Answer: Breast Implant Capsule Revision You have been doing your research. The so called popcorn technique was conceived to help in switching from a smooth to a textured breast implant. Smooth implants are generally placed in a pocket that is bigger than the implant and sometimes the implant will side around in the pocket or breast implant capsule too much. For this reason and many others the patient may decide to have their implants changed. The textured implants do not slide and have a lower capsule contracture rate so there is a shift to using them. The popcorn technique simply refers to the sound of the cautery, a snap and pop, as the capsule is injured to shrink it and hopefully create new scar that will grow into the texture. There are some other more effective techniques to get the texturing to “Velcro” to your body, which is what we want when we switch to a textured implant. The one that it preferred by many surgeons is a neo-pocket procedure where a new pocket is created under or over the old capsule. This gives a little more control and predictability to the procedure. I have added a video about textured, gummy bear implants that may help you as well. I hope that helps. Best regards.
