Answer: How do you know when you drop and fluff? Thank you for your questions. I usually tell patients that most of the implant settling and swelling will be done by three months. There are sometimes with certain patients or implants where this process can take longer, so I usually recommend waiting at least 6 months before making any decisions about revision or implant exchange.Hope this helps!

Answer: How do you know when you drop and fluff? Thank you for your question. Dropping of implants and stretching of muscle/skin ('fluffing') happens over a period of several months. So, it's not something that is dramatically different from one day to another. It is also not uniform for everyone. Most implants complete settling down by 6 months. So, at 6 months, they will be in a position that is expected to be permanent. At 3 months, most of the swelling has resolved and therefore, it's unlikely that they will appear significantly larger than they do now. Best,

Answer: Implant dropping Dear carolinewa3,dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position.I understand that you are worried about your implants are not dropping as expected. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. If after six months, you are not satisfied with the appearance of your breast, you can visit your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am.
