I've had post-acne red marks along my cheeks and chins for almost 10 years. Is the pulsed dye laser the best treatment option to get rid of these marks? Is their any downtime after this procedure is performed (can I go back to work and wear makeup the day after the procedure is performed)? What is the standard cost for this procedure? Thank you!
Answer: What is the cost and how successful is a pulsed dye laser for treating post-acne red marks? Thank you for your question. There are several laser treatments to remove vascular redness and their cost can vary depending on the treatment and how many are needed. Consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for a treatment plan that is best for you.

Answer: What is the cost and how successful is a pulsed dye laser for treating post-acne red marks? While many expert aesthetic dermatologists have been treating red marks left after pimples (pink/red post-inflammatory pigmentation) for years, there is a whole group of new studies in the medical literature (anyone can access them at pubmed.gov) proving that it is effective. Most patients experience 1-3 days of increased redness (like a mild sunburn) in treated areas, and I allow makeup afterward. Treatment costs are anywhere from $400-$800, based on location.

Answer: Laser for Acne Scars Pulse dye laser treatments will vary depending on the provider and your geographic location. In general, this is a good laser for a variety of lesions (including scars) with a vascular or red component, though several treatments may be required depending on the appearance of your skin and its response to treatment. See your dermatologist or plastic surgeon for a consultation, as you may need to consider a combination of laser types to see maximal aesthetic benefit.

Answer: Cost will vary, as will success rate read more... Costing will depend on your provider, however treatment success can vary. The most consistent results will have some transient and mild swelling and bruising. My suggestion is to have this done over the weekend. Often for post acne redness, especially lasting over a decade, higher settings are needed and you may require a series of 3-4 treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart for optimal outcomes.
