I have telangiectasia, mostly concentrated (dark) on the bottom/sides of my nose and a little bit on my cheeks. I have heard conflicting information regarding the best solution to get rid of this. I have read here on Real Self a few doctors stating that PDL works best. Others have said VeinWave will do the trick quickly without as much pain as lasers. They REALLY bother me so I want to get rid of them. But cost and pain management are also of concern. Help!

Answer: Treatment of Telangiectasia In my experience, PDL is a safe, effective way to lessen the appearance of these vessels. You may experience some bruising after this treatment, but pain is minimal and the treatment only takes a few minutes. You will need to be sure you apply sun screen diligently for at least two weeks after your laser treatment to avoid hyperpigmentation. Best of luck!

Answer: Vascular laser A vascular laser works best. My choice is the V BEAM pulse dye laser, however for resistant vessels I use a 755 ALEX or for really deep and persistent ones I use the 1064 long pulse. If one has a KTP 532nm that will do the trick as well. The surrounding redness is suggestive of rosacea, so I would opt for the pulse dye laser in a different setting to the vein removal. You will notice an improvement with one session, however 2-3 sessions spaced 3-4 weeks apart is ideal. all the bestDr Davin Lim
