My plastic surgeon recommended a neck lift and platysma-plasty in addition to the chin implant. I do have what appears to a recessed chin where it connects to my neck and there is no definition but I am only 25 years old and wonder if this is extreme. Thank you

Answer: Facelift with chin implant in a 25 year old. To be able to give you a true answer, I would need to see a complete set of photos. But If you have a recessed chin, an extended anterior chin implant will correct the situation. Also with younger patients liposuction of the neck under the jawline will create improved facial neck definition. These procedures are very successful and provide very natural results. It would be EXTREMELY RARE for a 25 year old to need a neck lift.

Answer: Chin implant neck lift candidate A chin implant is performed when there is a recessive chin present to augment the projection of the mandible. chin implants are manufactured in a variety of sizes and shapes which is best determined at the time of the consultation and examination. A neck lift is performed not for excess skin, but for excess fatty deposits located above and below the platysma muscle in the neck. These fatty deposits are known as sub-platysmal fat and sub-mental fat. In our practice a neck lift will create a better jawline definition by tightening the platysma muscle with a platysma-plasty after the sub-platysmal fat has been removed.
