Breast Fat Transfer causes sagginess after pregnancy?

Question

Would breast fat transfer's increased volume make the breasts more likely to sag after pregnancy and breastfeeding? Or would the fat transfer give it more structure and not make the breasts sag?

Breasts do tend to change with pregnancy  and breastfeeding, so you may want to wait until after both are completed.  Any added weight to the breast will have a greater tendency over time to increase drooping.  However, the placement of the fat has a great deal to do with the apparent weight that the skin envelope experiences.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Fat will not prevent sagging.  I would suggest avoid any transfers until about 6 months after stopping breast feeding to let your breasts return to what shape and size they will be. You might find that you don't' need fat or need implants instead.

Thank you for your question.  With pregnancy and breast feeding, your breasts will change.  It does not matter if your breasts are 100% real, have implants, or have fat grafting. No one can predict how it will effect the breasts until after you have recovered from pregnancy and breast feeding.

Breast fat grafting is a wonderful way to increase breast size without using implants. But like with any other breast procedure, pregnancy will change breast size and final post pregnancy appearance varies greatly. The choice to proceed with grafting before pregnancy is a personal decision based on personal priorities.

The larger volume of the breasts after fat transfer does not necessarily lead to sagging more, as there are a lot of other factors at play including how much your breasts change in size during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and how much weight you gain or lose and how quickly this happens. I do not think that fat transfer would make your breasts less likely to sag, although perhaps with the increased volume the appearance of sagging would be less because the skin is filled out more.
