I'm very active/healthy/fit- marathoner, cycling instructor. I eat clean. What's a realistic timeline for recovery; back on the bike instructing? I've heard/read a week. Bruising & minor swelling is ok, as I can wear CG or compression tights and I don't mind bruising/cosmetic abnormalities while healing. Can exercise harm healing process or final result? Any tips on speeding recovery? I know, patience. Resting completely or being slightly active the first few days after? Thank you!
Answer: Athenix Micro-Body Contouring/ Vaser Lipo Recovery Expectations: 27 Year-Old Female Having Inner/Outer Thighs Done In A Week. Thank you for your question. You can do some aerobic exercises in a week and strenuous exercises in 2-3 weeks if Tumescent / VASER Liposuction is done. I advise my patients to have compression garments on while exercising, for atleast 6 weeks. It is possible to injure yourself and have bleeding within the tissues if strenuous exercises are done for the first few days. Every surgeon has his or her own protocol and it is best to follow the instructions of your surgeon. All The Best !

Answer: About Vaser Liposuction Recovery Many studies indicate that there is less injury to the body with Vaser than with traditional #liposuction. Recovery from Vaser Liposuction is based on the level of soreness and bruising experienced by the patient. But, it can vary among patients. As with traditional liposuction, there are no large incisions or effect on the muscle and other underlying tissue. Therefore, #healing time may be less than anticipated by most. Therefore, Vaser patients may experience less #pain or discomfort, #swelling (#edema) and bruising post procedure due to the nature of the technique. A quicker #recovery for a patient may be two to three weeks without any strenuous activity. This includes the short period of suggested rest of 12-24 hours soon following the procedure. #Exercise and activity are contingent on how the patient feels. Mild activity is not likely to hinder recovery or healing or create problems with recovery. However, it is recommended to acquire your doctor's permission to do so. Once you begin exercising again, start gently and let your body tell you what it can tolerate. Don’t rush!! Swelling after #Vaser liposuction is not uncommon. Gentle #walking may increase circulation and help to alleviate swelling. But you must not strain or push yourself. Also, if you were provided a post-procedure #garment, be sure you are wearing it until prescribed otherwise by your doctor. The purpose of the post-procedure #garment is to provide some gentle #support and to reduce swelling. If it feels too tight or causes pain, take it off. Many patients wear the #elastic garment for several weeks after procedures, as directed by their doctor; some choose to wear it longer for several months for comfort. If deemed beneficial, your doctor will recommend at your post-op follow-up appointments that you self-massage the surgical areas. As for at-home do-it-yourself methods, you should acquire your doctor's #permission before attempting such. The final results of the procedure are typically most noticeable 2-4 months following the #Vaser. So, you must have patience. The swelling will gradually diminish while the contours of the treated area(s) can continue to improve up to one year post procedure; becoming more apparent in appearance. If you have concerns about your healing, or pain that you question to be unusual, it is important to call your plastic surgeon to discuss these further asked to be examined.

Answer: Liposuction Results / Expectations It all depends on who your physician is, not the tool used. My patients get on a tredmill or walk outside less than 24 hours after the procedure and are back in the gym in 7-10 days. There is very little downtime when a tumescent approach is used. In your case a hi definition procedure is needed and should be done meticulously, meaning you should not have much downtime if done properly. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Your body will tell you what to do Mild, low-impact exercise will be easily tolerated within a few days.High-impact exercise, such as running, will take about three weeks. It is definitely possible to injure and re-injure yourself during the healing process. To my patients, I recommend that they do not engage in any activity that causes pain after surgery.Pain is a clear indication that your body is being injured.Healing from surgery is not a time where "no pain, no gain" applies. The more you give your body time to recover, the faster your recovery will be.Simply follow your body's signals of what seems reasonable.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
