Am I a good candidate for a chin implant to improve my side profile?

What would you recommend to help define my profile/jawline? When I smile, I already have a long, kinda knobby chin but I am concerned about my neck to chin definition. I am 5'5 and 124lbs. Not much fat for kybella, which I tried one treatment of with no result 6mo ago. Perhaps lipo but am open to all ideas/options. Thanks.

You definitely are a good candidate for an extended chin implant.It will decrease your overly pointy chin, create an attractive jawline from the side view, allow you to close your mouth easier, and decrease the chance of an "orange peel appearance" to your chin skin as you get older.  With reference to the fat in your neck, it appears to be very minimal and I believe a well placed chin implant will obviate the necessity for liposuction of your neck.As I am sure you already know, seeing at least three Board Certified plastic surgeons with before and after chin implants as part of their online portfolio will help you decide on which surgery and which plastic surgeon.

Thank you for your question, although it is difficult to make a complete assessment without seeing you in person. While your profile suggests a possible chin implant, the front view indicates perhaps that is not your best choice. As far as the small bit of submental fat under the chin, you could consider additional Kybella treatments or a single session of chin liposuction. This procedure removes the fat from the area in a single, minimally-invasive procedure performed using local anesthetic. It is possible that the fat reduction process will produce a satisfactory outcome on its own. If not, you can opt for dermal filler injections to put the finishing touches on your jaw contour. I encourage you to schedule an in-person assessment with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can customize a treatment plan for you based on your precise needs and goals.

A formal evaluation would be needed to determine what's best. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, so we perform a non-surgical chin augmentation treatment with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse as well as Sculptra are injected into the area, improving the overall appearance of the lower face and balancing the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline and improve the chin crease.

The photos are very limited but I can see a diminished chin and neckline as you have pointed out.. Liposuction alone may improve the contour but I am concerned that when you smile your chin becomes more prominent. With an implant, this may not be an aesthetically pleasing look. An in office consultation is need to evaluate and discuss all the options.

I would be very cautious when considering chin augmentation. Your chin has a minimal amount of recession and it would be easy to end up with a result that is too big. Computer imaging will help you see what may be the right amount. But you also need to pay attention to the front view so it also does not get too wide which many women do not like.

The photographs are rather limited, however there does appear to be a mildly recessive chin from the side profile. There also appears to be a small amount of fat deposits in the neck itself which can be removed with liposuction. Kybella is ineffective. Chin implants are manufactured in a large array of sizes, thicknesses, and shapes, and they can also be custom carved when necessary to match patient's unique anatomy.  In our practice, Chin implants are usually placed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Digital computer imaging will be helpful to understand what can and cannot be accomplished with the procedure.

You appear to be a good candidate for submental/cervical  liposuction to help define the jawline. Whether you are a candidate or not for a chin augmentation would be determined during consultation. While you have a slightly weak chin I believe the submental liposuction alone would provide you with nice results. Don't waste any more money on Kybella....For more information see the link attached.
