Will Voluma give someone chipmunk cheeks?

So many actresses on TV that get fillers in their cheeks look so overdone. Is there less risk of this overdone look with Voluma?

Voluma Doesn't Cause Chipmunk Cheeks – Poor Injectors Do

It's a shame that there are so many highly visible examples of poorly done cosmetic procedures in Hollywood. The unnatural chipmunk look you are referring to should never occur if you are being treated by an expert board-certified dermatologist who understands facial anatomy and aesthetics. The products we have at our disposal, such as the hyaluronic-acid based dermal filler Voluma, are phenomenal. Many other fillers give beautiful results as well. But to get phenomenal results, the technique of the injector must be phenomenal too.

The planes of the face have a particular architecture that must be respected when augmenting the volume of tissue or bone. It is also important to study the face with movement so, for example, the cheeks don’t look too huge when smiling. Lastly, the injector must work closely with the patient and develop an honest relationship. Sometimes patients truly don’t see themselves as others do and they ask for more and more filler. Rather than just keep adding, an expert dermatologist will help the patient to understand the balance and symmetry of a beautiful face and why more is not necessarily better. Please find a board-certified dermatologist who can show you beautiful results with Voluma through photos, videos and patient testimonials. Taking time to do your research will get you the spectacular results you want.

Will Voluma give me chipmunk cheeks?

thank you for your question. Injectable fillers can be used to enhance facial volume, correct lines and depressions, and rejuvenate the face without surgery. Some common fillers used in our San Diego practice include restylane, juvederm, perlane, voluma, radiesse, and sculptra. Consult with an experienced facial plastic surgeon injector to review your options. Good Luck!

Voluma for the Cheeks

As with any filler, it depends on the injection technique used and the area injected for the deficit the patient presents with. In my practice, patients are extremely satisfied with their treatment and look very natural when using an average of 2 syringes per treatment session.

Juvederm Voluma has proven to be an outstanding dermal filler for lifting the cheeks and midface.  When used properly by an experienced injector with a good aesthetic eye, results are natural and patient satisfaction is high.  Successful Voluma outcomes result from the doctor performing the procedure -- in short, it's not the product but rather the injector!

Voluma has been released early to a select group of experienced injectors.   Outstanding results may be achieved by skilled providers, so make sure to choose your doctor carefully.

Good luck!

Voluma is a treatment not a product

The key to getting great results with Voluma, or any other filler, is to see an experienced who understands the proper technique and has a good artistic sense.

When Voluma is done properly it can give a beautiful, youthful lift to the cheeks.  The shape of the curve is what determines whether or not the treatment looks great or not.  A youthful cheek as what is called an ogee curve (a term from architecture).  That type of curve on the cheek if fuller higher up on the cheek and much less full down at the level of the upper lip.  Keeping that shape avoids a chipmunk look.

Voluma Will Not Give You Chipmunk Cheeks, But an Injector Lacking Artistic Vision Will

I agree, "Lips and Cheeks on a Stick" that we see on many of the "Housewives of…" shows and in other actresses is not normal, not attractive, and makes those poor souls look like genetic mutants.  It is not ever the product, in the case of your question Voluma, that causes the "chipmunk" cheeks; rather it is the lack of artistic vision and even lack of skill of the injector.  Please make sure that you take the time and effort to choose your injecting physician  most carefully.  Good luck and be well.

Voluma in the cheeks

Voluma injections can look very natural. Your results with these type of fillers depend on your anatomy and the skill of your injecting physician. Ask to see before and after pictures of other patients who have had fillers. And most importantly, discuss your goals with the physician and have realistic expectations for your results.

Voluma in cheeks

Voluma is a great option to enhance the cheeks.  As long as the amount given is appropriate for the issue at hand, one will not get "chipmunk" cheeks.  The results depend entirely upon the amount of material used and how it is administered.  Please have a frank discussion with your surgeon before proceeding so that he/she understands your goals.

Voluma for cheeks

It’s all in the style. It’s not that it’s overdone with Voluma, it’s in the artistry, or lack of artistry, with which this great new product is used. Voluma is probably not a product that every injector should use. It takes a greater amount of experience on a doctor’s part. Let’s face it, every doctor or nurse can be an injector, but not every doctor or nurse injector has great artistry. It’s a special talent to gain for you a great looking natural result.

Voluma doesn't cause chipmunk cheeks

Chipmunk cheeks are a result of a poor injector, not the filler being used. You need a dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is trained in anatomy, symmetry, beauty and more to best determine which filler to use, how much of it, at what depth to inject it, and to make sure there is limited risk of side effects. Voluma in highly trained hands will not give you chipmunk cheeks.
