If someone has broken their nose several times playing sports and has poor airflow through the nose should they have surgery to gix the problem. Is it usually covered by insurance? How much does this surgery cost in Seattle? Do all surgeons charge the same amount?

A septoplasty will not fix a broken nose or change the shape of the nose, it is performed to improve air flow dynamics through the nose  for medical necessity. The cost of a septoplasty to the patient  is very complicated due to insurance regulations. Charges for the  septoplasty surgery include operating room, anesthesia, and surgeons fee.   Even though you have a high deductible, your  insurance company would be billed the "charged amount", and then they will then pay the "allowed amount" minus any co-pays and deductibles.  The cost is also dependent on whether the surgeon and the facility are" in network" versus "out of network". You will be responsible for any co-pays and  deductibles that are applicable. A septoplasty performed in the outpatient surgery center setting will be less expensive than a hospital setting.
