How many syringes of filler do I need for under eyes?

Hi @katnis14. Thank you for sharing your photo. You would be a great candidate for tear trough fillers. Restylane and Belotero work great. 1 syringe is a good place to begin. Hi, and thanks for your question.  From your picture it looks like you might benefit from at least a half a syringe on each side, although you will need an in-person consultation with a qualified injector to see which filler would be right for you, and how much you'll need.  You might also benefit from radio-frequency or microneedling treatments to help stimulate collagen production under your eyes.  Botox is great for a slight lift of the eyebrows, and radio-frequency can help with that as well.

Thank you for the photos, they were great. Your eyes may benefit from a small amount of Vobella to begin with. If you love it, you can always add more or go with a heavier volume filler. Lastly, it would not hurt to see a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation on fat transfer. Best wishes

Fillers like Belotero, Volbella, and Restylane Silk are good for improving under the eyes, but keep in mind that a combination approach will give the most improvement. For my patients who wish to avoid surgery, we use fillers, lasers, microneedling/PRP and stem cells. Based on your photo I would start with at least one syringe of a filler, Boletero perhaps. If necessary can add one more.  

Hi, thank you for your question. From what I see on the picture, it looks like you are a very good candidate for under eye fillers and brow lift with botox. I would start by giving you more volume in the anterior cheek to give more support to your tear trough and then I would fill the tear troughs under your eyes. We could finish by injected botox in the upper face to lift your eyebrows and eyelids and give a more rested look. We always have to be careful not to over treat the under eye area. This area is prone to water retention so in the first 4 weeks following the injection, the injected product will usually increase in volume because of this water retention. Therefore, it is always better to under correct this area. We can always add some volume if needed a couple of weeks later. The use of a cannula in the under eye area will also help reduce the risk of bruising. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the question - totally agree with other answers that half a ml per side is a good starting point  -  the great thing about fillers is that you can keep adding to them later on if needed. Usually a cannula will be safer here with less risk of bruising too. Good luck.

For fillers in the tear troughs less is more.  I usually start with a single syringe of a hyaluronic acid filler that can be dissolved if over-corrected.  Followup in 2-3 weeks after swelling is resolved will allow determination if more is necessary.  Filler in this area tends to last longer due to reduced facial movement in the tear troughs.  Additional filler or PRP can be added later.

I think you have a genetic disposition for early aging around the eyes. I think you are an excellent candidate for periocular filler using blunt cannulas. I would place 1cc of Defyne each side in the medial cheek and tear trough area. This is the safest, most comfortable, and least amount of bruising technique for the correction. After 3 weeks, have a return visit to evaluate if more filler is needed.

In the vast majority of my younger patients like yourself, 1 syringe of filler is sufficient (1/2 syringe per side). The injection can be made by the needle or cannula technique. If after 3-4 weeks you feel you need/want more, you can always add more filler. Some people develop tear troughs with weight loss or with age, while others have them at a younger age for hereditary reasons. Most importantly, see a highly trained expert physician injector such as a dermatologist for optimal results and safety (especially in such a delicate area).
