Can I hurt my implants/pockets accidentally stretching chest while lying in bed 10 days post op?

Question

I think I accidentally flexed/stretched my pecs lying in bed. My back stayed flat, arms at my side, but felt the sensation you'd normally extend them behind your back for. Just had a revision, and he fixed my pockets a bit to prevent my implants from ending up too far under my arms (slightly peaked, bony chest & wide sternum for being very petite with 325 silicone ccs under muscle.) I felt pain along the sides of my breasts, it's subsided but still tender. Will this hurt my result at all? :(

Thank you for sharing. It's hard to say without examining and knowing exactly what was done in the procedure. Check with your plastic surgeon. This indeed maybe normal for what was accomplished in the procedure. Best wishes.

You should be careful with how much you use your arms in the immediate healing period after surgery. But I doubt that you have done anything to harm your breasts.

The description does not sound too concerning to me, but for real meaningful reassurance, best to follow up with your plastic surgeon. When patients undergo internal suture repair of breast implant capsules (capsulorraphy),  it is very important to limit movement in certain directions. There is a risk of potentially disrupting the suture repair. Again, best to follow up with your plastic surgeon for in person examination and ( probably) reassurance. the stretching you did will most likely not affect your results, unless you disrupted some sutures placed to hold the implant in place. If the breasts still look the same and before the stretching, you should be OK. If you did disrupt things, would recommend some type of support to hold the implants where you want them to be for several weeks. Obviously, see your surgeon and discuss it with them.

When implants are exchanged and the capsules are repaired on the sides, I like to keep patients in a supportive bra especially at night. Even if the repair was stretched, a snug bra can help. Please follow up with your surgeon and follow all instructions. I feel the first 3 weeks after surgery are the most important.

From your description, I believe you you may have had a capsulotomy and/or capsulodesis (loosening and /or tightening of the breast capsule around your implants).  Although, I don't think you harmed your results, check with your surgeon for advice and try to avoid lying directly on the implants.  Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
