I had a rhinoplasty in 2023. The result was the most perfect nose I’ve ever seen. I chose an amazing doctor and was meticulous on after care. Unfortunately I took an airbag to the face in a car accident a few months ago. The nose looked exactly the same afterwards, and stayed exactly the same for about 2 months. A few weeks ago the tip started looking super deformed. What happened? Did something shift in accident but not show up until 2 months + later? Also I have been taping it at night since I noticed it, will that help? And is it something that could be fixed/smoothed out with filler? Thanks.

Answer: Revision rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. This may not have anything to do with the car accident. Your tip does appear over projected and therefore it can change around this time after your original surgery. A revision may be able to help significantly. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Rhinoplasty It would be most helpful to see pictures of your nose before surgery, after surgery and before the car accident as well as the current issue. It’s possible that after the car accident,, new scar tissue began to form which caused deformation of the cartilage and/or the trauma resulted in thinning of the soft tissue of the tip, making the underlying cartilage more visible. I would highly recommend that you go back to the surgeon who did your rhinoplasty, considering you had such a good experience, and see what he or she advises.
