Can you reconstruct chest with a previous construction?

Question

I had a previous surgery where They took out all the excess skin out of weight loss. They used the Anchor procedure, and Now I want to go under double incision (chest surgery) for FTM, as I am a transman, How it can be done, and would I loose the sensation in my nipples? I have been told that I might have not straight line chest with a scar in between so I want to have a second opinion..

It is possible to have top surgery with favorable scar position at the level of the breast crease/inferior edge of the pectoralis major muscle and preserve a natural appearing nipple. The technique in question is an inferiorly based, de-epithelialized flap the supports the nipple/areola with its own blood supply. Sensation is usually reduced, but not completely lost. The alternative strategy is to reposition the nipple-areola complex as a graft, which results in complete loss of sensation. Knowing exactly which operations you have had in the past is important to determine which operation(s) you are eligible for. Best of luck!

Yes it is possible to perform female to male top surgery after having a previous breast reduction.  The scaring and subsequent nipple sensation will depend on multiple factors including specifics about the technique used in the previous breast reduction, time since the surgery, and patient factors.

It is difficult to say without seeing you in person. Depending on your current size and shape, you may have separate scars or a continuous scar and they may or may not be straight. Also depending on your size, we may recommend a nipple graft which will cause sensation loss. Its best to be seen in person by a board certified plastic surgeon to give you all the options.
