Hi, I had my 1st transplant in December 2022 and have booked to have the second in this coming December. The 1st procedure was the front of the scalp and the 2nd will be the crown and to fill in any gaps in the hair line (Norwood 6).I feel like I will need a 3rd transplant to get the desired results I’m looking for and will probably need to use my beard hair to get the thickness and coverage. Is it possible to have a beard to scalp transplant say 3 months after rather than waiting a year?
Answer: 3rd hair transplant procedure Hello, thank you for your question. From my professional experience, usually when a patient needs multiple transplants I have them wait about 4 months in between surgeries if we are addressing different areas. For example the first surgery is the front, and the second surgery is the crown area. If we are covering the same area to add more density then I advise patients to wait about a year. This is because in my professional opinion, the grafts need to grow and full results need to be achieved to see what areas are still sparse and which areas are too dense to safely implant more hair into. Generally it is not advisable to try and put hair on top of hair because you can damage the existing hair. Hope this was helpful, if you have any further questions please contact my office at 949.374.2563

Answer: Beard to scalp transplant Dear CB_86 Thank you for your question. The hair on the top and back of your head is genetically programmed not to fall out again. Hair transplantation from the beard doesn't yield the same survival rate or desired results when compared to hair taken from the back of your head. Furthermore, In our practice, we exclusively use hair from the back of the head for transplantation to get more desirable results. As far as the time frame is concerned, there shouldnt be any problem to go through with your 3rd procedure 3 month's after. Regards TAS TEAM

Answer: Rushing is not recommended The main reason we wait about 1 year between grafts is that some of the hair follicles that were transplanted would not start to grow until 1 year after transplant. By waiting we ensure that we don't accidentally damage these dormant follicles and allow you to get the most density possible. If the locations of the graft are different then you can have procedures closer to each other but if the location of the grafts overlap then I highly recommend that you wait.

Answer: Reply to "Is it possible to have a beard to scalp transplant 3 months after FUE rather than waiting a year?" Hello I'm Dr. Wipawan Vathananai, a co-worker of Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana, from BHI Clinic, Bangkok, Thailand. I would still recommend you to wait at least 10 months after your previous hair transplant because your transplanted hairs are still recovering from the previous surgery.
