Dear amylouise23, there is no medical evidence about this, however there is plenty studios talking about efficience and safety of the cohesive gel silicon implants, so in my experience no, there is no risk of getting your asthma worse due to them but yes the first days any patient will feel some pressure and also some can feel some breathe difficuls but this mostly disappear one week or less after the procedure.Make sure you go on consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Hope this helps and best of lucks! Dr. Luis Mejia.
Hi, thank you for your question. There is no scientific evidence that silicone breast implants exacerbate asthma . Asthma is an inflammatory and immunologic response that occurs within the body. Implants and other foreign objects such as botox and fillers can stimulate your immune system, making it want to create antibodies against this. This can, in turn, increase or trigger an asthma crisis, but there is no scientific proof that breast implants specifically, cause an exacerbation of one's asthma. I hope this proves helpful and I wish you the best.
Dear amylouise23,there have been numerous studies on the safety and efficacy of silicone breast implants. The FDA has approved them to be safe and breast augmentation is the most common cosmetic surgical procedure performed in the United States every year. Implants are much different than they used to be with rigorous testing and cohesive gel. I can't tell you how happy my breast augmentation patients have been with their implants.I would recommend a consult with a plastic surgeon to go over all of your concerns. Saline implants are also a perfectly good option if you are still concerned and are less expensive.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
No, implants will not make asthma worse. However, if your implants are being placed behind the muscles, you will have more soreness initially and notice that your chest will feel tight. Once the muscles are stretched and settled down, you will be fine.
When selecting an implant a board certified plastic surgeon is your personal expert. During a consultation your surgeon will discuss your surgical goals as well as take measurements of your breasts. These measurements are different that those used to determine bra size. This information is...
Hello and thank you for your question. Honestly, a formal in-person evaluation would be needed to determine the best treatment. There are several reasons for this: 1) Bra sizes vary based on the clothing store (for example, Victoria's Secret tends to upsize everyone by a whole cup size) 2) Most...
