Can Botox cause anaphylaxis?

Hi I was given Suxamethonium 27 years ago and took severe anaphylactic shock. Was advised after this to avoid Sux and caution with all muscle relaxants . Is Botox classed as the same type of muscle relaxant . Would I be able to have Botox safely ?

There is no reason to believe that you will have an anaphylactic reaction to Botox. Please recognize that anyone can be allergic to anything even if you have successfully had a product in the past. If you are really worried about this, there is generally no medical reason for you to have botulinum toxin. An allergist can test you more broadly to screen you for other compounds and prescribe you an epi pen if indicated.

Anyone can have a severe reaction to any drug, however it is very rare with Botox.  Botox is a neuromodulator.  I've included a video on how the product works in the body.

A face to face consult and examination is always best however in this scenario an anaphylactic reaction to botox is extremely rare- however it is possible with any drug.
