1 year post-op, why do I have a bump on the tip of my nose? (Photos)

About a week ago I noticed a small bump showed up on the tip of my nose, I don’t think I had this before and even though I’ve asked my family and friends no one can seem to see it but in pictures and certain angles and lightening it seems bigger and more obvious, is it clear from the pictures what this is and if it’ll go away alone or I should start using some type or cream like steroid cream, I can’t tell if it’s an actually issue or all in my head

A bump on the tip of your nose one year after surgery may indicate a complication from your rhinoplasty procedure. It's important to follow up with your plastic surgeon or an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) specialist to get a proper evaluation and determine the cause of the bump.

In some cases, a bump on the nose may be a result of residual swelling or scarring from the surgery, which may resolve on its own over time. However, it's always best to have it checked by a qualified medical professional to rule out any potential complications or underlying issues. Your surgeon may recommend additional treatment options or procedures to address the bump and improve the appearance of your nose if necessary.

However if you feel a firm bump on the tip of your nose, it is likely cartilage after rhinoplasty surgery. If this is the only concern about your nose, Consider re-asking your question with better photos to demonstrate the concern. Thank you. Dr Joseph

Hello! Thank you for your question.From what I can see from the photos your nasal bridge looks too wide compared to your nostrils. It also looks like the tip is more droopy to the left side. The small bump you are referring to is what cause you a droopy tip. I recommend you a revision to give a slimmer and more elegant nose.Best regards!

In general, there are only 3 things that could be present in the nose. Skin/subcutaneous tissue, cartilage, and mucosa. Bumps such as the one that you see can be the result of cartilage that may have changed shape following rhinoplasty, which is not uncommon due to the forces that the scarring places on the cartilage. It could also be a small skin cyst. Only an in person exam will be able to tell what it truly is. Make sure to use a board certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon to ensure that your surgeon is properly trained and you are receiving the best care.
