I am 5ft 6" and weigh 48kgs. I know this is slightly underweight but I eat well and have a very active job. Am I too thin to be considered for surgery? I am 32b cup wanting to be about a Dcup. Thanks

Answer: Thin Patient Do Benefit From Breast Augmentation
As long as a patient is healthy and does not have an eating disorder that complicates their physical and psychological recovery, "thinness" is not a contraindication to breat augmenation surgery. You should be aware that the lack of breast tissue and thin skin does increas your risk of implant visibility and palpability. You should consider submuscular augmentation to provide additional soft tissue coverage over the implant. You should also discuss the pros and cons of saline versus silicone augmenation. This is the one situation where silicone implants may provide some additional benefit. A physical exam and thorough history by a Plastic Surgeon would be helpful in guiding you in making a sound decsion. Best wishes!

Answer: Too Skinny for Breast Augmentation? No, being “skinny” is not a contraindication to breast augmentation surgery. However, your body type may dictate how large of a breast implant can be safely used and what type of breast implant ( probably silicone gel) will best achieve your goals. When the time is right, seek consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work and communicate your goals clearly. In my practice, I prefer the use of goal pictures to help with this communication process. I hope this helps.
