Thank you for your question. Generally speaking, patients should stop taking aspirin and any other NSAIDs at least 10-14 days before their surgery. With that being said, it is critical that patients who are on an aspirin regimen as per their medical doctor discuss this with their physician before stopping this medication. If you are already scheduled for your surgery it would be important for you to discuss your current medications (NSAIDs included) with your operating surgeon. It is important to keep in mind that each plastic surgeon has their own pre-operative and post-operative protocols and that some surgeons might require that these blood thinning medications be discontinued for much longer. I hope you find this helpful and I wish you the best!
We recommend to our patients that they stop taking aspirin and or aspirin containing medications for a least two weeks prior to surgery and post operatively. But check with your Dr. and Surgeon as we all tend to have slightly different pre and post op instruction.Best of luck to you
Usually we will tell patients a week before and a week after which also includes medications such as motrin .. best of luck
Dear Judith1961,I usually tell my patients to avoid aspirin for 2 weeks before surgery, as long as it is okay with their primary care physician. Each surgeon has different guidelines as far as medications to not take before surgery and for how long you need to be off of the medication. It is always best to check with your surgeon.
Thank you for your question. The general recommendation is to be off all blood donors at least 10 days before surgery. When in doubt please check in with your plastic surgeon. Your surgeon will not only want you off blood thinners, but will need to understand why you were on them in the first place to be sure that they can be safely stopped. Best wishes.
Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Best to stop taking all aspirin at least 2 weeks prior to your procedure. Hope this helps.
Baby aspirins, most non steroidal anti-inflammatories, and vitamin E all increase the chance of bleeding during surgery, and therefore should be stopped 10-14 days prior to any elective surgery. Obviously, each plastic surgeon has his or her own protocol and therefore I strongly suggest you speak to your personal Board Certified plastic surgeon and get his or her recommendations. Answer this question
This is something you should discuss with your surgeon, for my patients, I want them to stop all blood thinners including aspirin for a minimum of two weeks before surgery and two weeks after. There are many products that have blood thinners in them, I have a 4 page list that I give my patients of medications and herbal remedies that they need to avoid. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. This is an excellent since baby aspirin can increase bleeding during surgery. This, along with certain other drugs such as Ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory medication should be stopped at least 10-14 days prior to surgery based on your own doctor's recommendation. Best of luck.
Thank you for your question. I usually recommend my patients two weeks before surgery. But that all depends on the plastic surgeon. Hope this can be of use.Dr,Ricardo Ventura.
